Proposed Talks

Data Scientists, Making Sh!t up Since 1974

Submitted by Gary Short

Talk Abstract:

By now you will all have seen data science talks where presenters have said "We just download data from here, and blend it with data from there, then we run it through an algorithm and jazz hands we make a prediction". Well, okay, cool, but what happens if you don't have any data? As a data scientist, you can't just shrug and say "dunno mate". In this session we'll examine the process of elicitation and we'll use it to predict the success of this conference, live, using Python and Jupyter Notebooks.
