About us

A small team of volunteers who love this community.

The DDD way

Since the first Developer! Developer! Developer! day in Reading in 2005, DDD conferences have been organised by software developers, for software developers, and built on a few simple principles.

  • Free to attend

DDDSW costs nothing to attend, thanks to our sponsors, so money is never the barrier.

  • On a Saturday

Weekend events mean you can come without taking time off work or asking your boss for a day.

  • Open submissions

Anyone can propose a talk, from first-time speakers to seasoned experts.

  • A democratic agenda

The community helps choose the sessions, so the programme is what attendees actually want to see.

Meet the farmhands

Our history

DDDSW has been connecting developers in the South West since 2009. Browse our past events to find out more.

Past committee members

Thank you to everyone who has helped organise the conference! The years show when each person was listed on our team page. Years before 2023 come from web archives, so some names may be missing, and we've assumed anyone listed before and after a gap was on the committee in between. If you spot a mistake, we'd love a pull request on our GitHub repository.

Get involved

DDDSW is a community event and there are several ways you can get involved. We're also looking for new committee members: email management@dddsouthwest.com.

  • Spread the word

Sharing our social media posts helps us reach new attendees, speakers and sponsors. Our event is funded solely by sponsorship, so every share is appreciated.

  • Speak at our event

Got something to share? First-timer or old hand, a full session or a quick lightning talk, we want to hear it. Not sure your idea is ready? We'll help you work it up.

  • Help us on the day

As the event grows we need extra hands. Keep an eye on our LinkedIn feed for volunteering opportunities, or email us.
